Oxalis oregano and thimbleberry #935505

I have a relatively young thimbleberry plant that has started to expand into areas I don't really want it. It has had a nice colony of oxalis oregana growing under it. Today I pulled on a new stem, cut it off as far as I could get my clipper into the ground, and then pulled up several feet of root. All of that root was intertwined with oxalis rhizomes. I tried to shove the oxalis back into the disturbed ground, not very successfully. Are these known companion plants? Most of the oxalis in the now treeless yard are suffering from (I assume) too much exposure, but it looked like I ruined a very good relationship and I expect the injured oxalis to die. Is this a good guess and a known relationship?

Hi Marsha, thank you for using Ask Extension.
Your oxalis will recover as it's a pretty tough plant. It's recommended for dry shade areas, but you can water because of the recent hot weather we had.
